Pilates is an excellent method of corrective exercise that provides our bodies with a stable platform for movement and control.
For all exercise to be safe and effective, the 'core' or deep muscle system needs to work appropriately. When these muscles are not working properly, our body loses its stable platform and other muscles and joints can be affected.
Pilates is an approach to exercise which focuses on these deep muscles, providing an excellent foundation for corrective exercise and building stability through conditioning.
Although Pilates techniques are now used widely in gyms and exercise classes, too often these techniques are used inappropriately, focusing on 'strengthening the core' which can lead to stiffness and limited movement.
Pilates is really a specialised area of medicine requiring a high-level of training, qualification and experience.
Our team of chartered physiotherapists and Pilates instructors at Physiocare are trained to the highest standards of clinical excellence and Pilates techniques are at the heart of many of our corrective therapies and treatments for physiotherapy.
Our team is ideally qualified and experienced to teach you the most effective Pilates techniques.
At The Body Management Gym we offer Pilates on a 1:1 or small group session basis. Practising Pilates is a skill acquired over time. It needs to be taught accurately with a close attention to detail for each individual.
In our experience, most people benefit from at least one 1:1 session before transferring to one of our small group sessions.
Pilates can make a world of difference to your physical shape, your body's movement and your general wellbeing; we really recommend that you give it a go!
